Intensive Support

Schools that go on to receive intensive support from the Hub are known as our Partner schools.

Partner schools can receive up to a maximum of nine literacy specialist days over two academic years with a maximum of six days delivered in any one academic year.  The intensive support includes close support and monitoring from our Hub leadership team and funding for training and resources.

We select partner schools according to a number of eligibility criteria and schools must be able to demonstrate that they have the motivation and capacity to bring about improvement.

We are currently supporting 13 Wave 1 partner schools that are entering their second year of support and 4 Wave 2 partner schools that are just beginning their first year of support.

Over the next few months we will be identifying potential Wave 3 partner schools to start receiving intensive support from September 2021.

Here's what some of our partner schools have to say about their first year:

At Kells Infant School as a newly appointed Head teacher in September 2018 it wasn't long before I discovered that there was no systematic approach to the phonic teaching and hence I attended a Show Case event at Orgill Primary School to see how we could improve the teaching of phonics for every member of staff and give the children the best opportunity of success in reading.

After the initial visit I had confirmed my original thoughts that Read, Write Inc. would be the best option for us as a school. The Hub Literacy Specialist has visited school and ensured that we are on track with and coaching of staff and we have seen an acceleration in attainment of sounds, reading fluency, engagement and understanding of how important reading is.  My Reading Leader has been so inspired and her enthusiasm has been infectious.  There has always been a good communication link between the Hub with regard to both administrative and phonic/reading  queries.

I am so proud of what has been achieved at Kells since we have been part of the Hub's network of schools.  We could not have done this without the reassurance that help is on the other end of an email or telephone.

Kells Infant School, Whitehaven

We, at St Bridget's, have found our work with Orgill English Hub to be a positive and worthwhile experience. We are very grateful for the support they give to our school and their invaluable experience and expertise when it comes to the delivery of Read Write Inc.

They have been extremely professional with myself and my staff and we are thankful for the support and work they do with us.

Many thanks.
