What an incredible start to our Year 3 and 4 residential adventure! After arriving at Hawes End and mastering the important skill of making their own beds, the children quickly settled in and were ready to embrace the excitement ahead. They then split into groups and headed off for their first activities of the trip. Today has seen our young adventurers scaling the heights of Catbells and Kitten Crag, paddling across the water during canoeing sessions, and tackling the challenges of ghyll scrambling with determination, teamwork and plenty of enthusiasm! It has been fantastic to see the children stepping out of their comfort zones, encouraging one another and making the most of every opportunity. Their resilience, positivity and adventurous spirit have already shone through. For many of our children, this is their very first residential experience away from home, and they have been absolutely amazing. From showing independence and courage to embracing new challenges with confidence and smiles, they have made us incredibly proud. They have represented our school brilliantly and have approached every part of the day with enthusiasm and determination. As promised, we're delighted to share some of the first photos from our adventure. They capture the excitement, achievement, teamwork and joy that have filled our first day. From conquering climbs and navigating the water to supporting friends and creating new memories, these photographs offer just a small glimpse into what has already been a truly special experience. What a fantastic first day it has been. We can't wait to see what tomorrow's adventures have in store!

In the Spring of 2018, the Department for Education (DfE) identified and invited 924 schools that met a number of eligibility criteria to apply to become an accredited English Hub as part of a new national initiative to drive up standards in literacy. In the Autumn of 2018, following a competitive application and selection process, the DfE announced that 34 schools across England had been identified to take on this role.
Orgill Primary School is very proud to be one of those Hub schools and we are excited by the opportunities that this offers to schools in Cumbria and wider areas.
