As the Orgill English Hub continues to grow, we are expanding our team of Literacy Specialists to support schools across Cumberland, Westmorland and Lancashire. Our extended remit now includes Early Language and Literacy in Reception, alongside early reading, phonics and reading fluency across Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3.
These part-time, seconded roles (one or two days per week) offer an exceptional opportunity for experienced teachers and leaders to contribute to system-wide improvement. Literacy Specialists play a pivotal role in strengthening practice across schools, deepening their own expertise, and helping to build ambitious, inclusive reading cultures that enable every pupil to succeed.

We are seeking highly skilled and committed Early Years teachers and leaders who have demonstrated a strong track record of improving communication, language and literacy outcomes in Reception.
Early Language and Literacy Specialists are seconded from their home school, with the full support of their headteacher, to work in partnership with schools supported by the English Hub. They are central to the Hub’s offer and work collaboratively with school leaders and teachers to strengthen early literacy provision.
This role includes:
· Supporting high-quality early language development
· Strengthening Reception literacy practice, including handwriting and composition
· Supporting effective implementation of the DfE Writing Framework
· Providing coaching, modelling and professional development
· Contributing to evaluation, action planning and sustained improvement

· Developing automaticity, prosody and comprehension through structured fluency instruction
· Coaching and modelling high-quality reading lessons
· Supporting reading leadership and whole-school improvement
· Contributing to evaluation, action planning and sustained impact
This is an exciting opportunity to extend your influence beyond your own setting and play a key role in raising reading standards across the region.
Orgill English Hub is seeking to appoint talented and committed teachers or leaders with significant experience in improving reading outcomes in Key Stage 3.
We are particularly interested in candidates who have successfully supported pupils who did not meet the expected standard in reading at the end of Key Stage 2 and who have led strategies to strengthen reading fluency, disciplinary literacy and reading for pleasure within a secondary context.
Key Stage 3 Literacy Specialists are seconded from their home school, with the full support of their headteacher, to work alongside partner schools supported by the English Hub. They are integral to the Hub’s expanded offer and work closely with senior leaders, subject leaders and classroom teachers to embed a coherent, whole-school approach to reading.
The role includes:
· Supporting reading catch-up and intervention for struggling readers
· Developing fluency and comprehension strategies across subjects
· Strengthening disciplinary literacy and curriculum reading
· Coaching staff and building leadership capacity
· Supporting strategic planning, evaluation and sustainable improvement
This role offers a unique opportunity to influence reading culture and provision across secondary schools, ensuring that all pupils — particularly the most vulnerable — develop the confidence and competence to thrive as readers.
