In Orgill Primary School our curriculum is much more than what the National Curriculum 2014 says that we have to teach. We use the National Curriculum as a basis and we develop and enhance it to meet our own children's needs. We define our curriculum as everything that we plan, implement and encourage during the course of our involvement with pupils that impacts upon their learning and development. Our curriculum gives our school a distinct identity and reflects our values and ethos. It acknowledges our place in the local community and our awareness of the wider world in which we live and we aim to produce well-rounded children who can play a positive role as the citizens of tomorrow.
It is our aim to provide a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum that meets the needs and ability of each individual child. We place a high emphasis on basic skills from the moment that children join us and this ensures that they achieve well. We want to make our curriculum a rich experience for all of our pupils, laying the foundations for success in life. We work tirelessly to enrich it, injecting varied and rich learning experiences that develop our children academically, personally and socially. We strive to engage our children, capture their passion and enthusiasm and promote a life long love of learning.
Our pupils are taught in many different ways but all teaching and learning is of a high quality and is planned to ensure that pupils are supported and challenged. We respond quickly when children experience difficulties and offer a range of curriculum interventions aimed at addressing every child's unique needs.
