Early Years

The Early Years is a large unit consisting of 32 reception children, 37 nursery children who attend either a morning or afternoon session and 14 two year olds. Children in reception are split into four ability groups for Read/Write Inc.   Nursery children are split into groups for phonics and maths activities and other adult directed activities. We offer children a wide range of multi sensory activities which cater for individual learning styles. Our approach is a balance between play - child initiated and planned as well as teaching skills such as reading, writing and mathematics.

Mr Rabia manages this unit with support from another teacher Mrs Hayes.  Children are also supported by Mrs Branney, Mrs Roberts, Mrs Jackson, Mrs Pater, Miss Conway, Miss Adair, Miss Gordon and Miss Brereton.

Nursery children have a 'Fit Kids' session on Wednesdays and reception children do PE on Thursdays ans Fridays.

Every child has a Talking, Telling and Finding Out book to be taken home each week with an activity to be completed with the support of an adult.
